Camels

Every so often during the Harmattan people from the far desert north come down to Ghana with their camels. These intinerants seek food and money as they go from village to village as a sort of circus. These camels are such an odd sight that people will gather and wonder at these beasts from the North and maybe give a little money to the travelers.

The Rolls-Royce of Saharan transportation! These men (and camels) came from Gorom-Gorom in Burkina Faso close to the Mali border.

Of course, I've got to have my picture taken! One thing I didn't realize is how tall these animals are. When the camel rose to its feet I felt as if I was going up six stories.
