Etna volcano after eruption

This LISS-III image was acquired by the IRS-1D satellite on July 25th 2001. It shows Etna, located in the eastern part of Sicily, which entered a new phase of volcanic activity on July 7th 2001. Most recent lava flows appear in red while old lava flows can be seen in dark shades. This false color image has been generated by combining channels 5 (SWIR), 4 (NIR) and 3 (red) of the multispectral data set.
